Te Maru o Ngongotahā is one of the largest Kahui Ako in the country, supporting 12 schools - some 3800 students, 2700 of whom are Maori and 225 teaching staff. This Kahui Ako includes a diverse range of both rural and urban settings and a specialist

school. As a notable point of difference too, our Kahui Ako has 8 schools who offer Maori Medium Provision.

The vision includes three main challenges and focuses on Culturally Responsive and Relational Pedagogy, Maori Medium Pathways and Hauora. These three challenges are strongly intertwined. They weave together, across all the sectors within the Kahui Ako, to ensure better outcomes for our tamariki and rangatahi.
