Hauora Services

Education and Health have always been strongly linked and support one another as we all work towards growing the "good, healthy citizen".The relationship between Te Maru o Ngongotaha and Lakes DHB have strengthened over the past two years.

Lakes DHB have a strong commitment to ensuring that they support schools in both prevention and right in time support and health education for our tamariki and rangatahi.

As teachers we often deal with what we have in front of us with the knowledge and resources we already know about. The stronger link with Lakes DHB allows us to consider the other agencies, ministry and government funding that is designed to be channelled towards helping in other ways. The resource links provided here will build your kete of pathways, teaching tools and supports available for physical and mental health.

Leading Lights has been gifted to Lakes DHB by Canterbury DHB for the Wellbeing of students in schools.

This resource has an enormous amount of information which our LSC, SENCo and teachers can use to develop their own understandings and knowledge in order to help students. Links to Learning, Wellbeing and Belonging and Behaviour are areas of particular need for our teachers.

The pathways provide early intervention and prevention strategies as well as links to organisations. Our current strategy for localising this information is to use Leading Lights and Healthpoint side by side to make connections with local agencies.

HealthPoint is searchable resource which provides up-to-date information about healthcare providers, referral expectations, services offered and common treatments.
